Naomi, one of your gifts as a food writer is the way you make it all seem so easy, so do-able, without long lists of ingredients measured down to the merest half teaspoonful. Just take a little of this and a little of that and combine them with some butter or olive oil. Oh, and as you always say (but did not this time, perhaps because it wasn't necessary): Put an egg on it!

Thanks Nancy... Nothing that I make depends on precise measurement except the salt-fermented ingredients in my Salt book. And even there, there's some leeway.

You and I know that ingredients differ, this tomato is less acidic than that one, etc, so easy-going adaptation is the cook's best technique ā˜€ļøšŸ§”šŸ§”

ā€œI’m grateful for this capacity to live a kind of imaginative continuum of time and space, while staying anchored in the present.ā€ Beautiful 🩷

Amazing. I also occasionally slip into thinking about the past, especially my grandmother. While I was writing my book, the chapter on her recipes evoked string memories, and I would occasionally get lost in those memories, unable to focus on writing.

We get rose apples in India, I wonder if I can make the same jelly? Hmmm…..

The image of a warming blanket is beautiful.

I'd love to try some of that crabapple jelly.
