Oh, Naomi! I always so look forward to your writing! I visite Ravenna in the mid 80's as a student. I'd studied European history and really wanted to see those mosaics! I still remember the wonder and awe I felt looking up at them and realizing that they'd been up there, made at the time these people lived. Glad you had/ took the opportunity to visit.
