As I read how you process pain, I learn to deal with my own. I evolve on how to regulate my emotions, my anticipation of what is yet to come, but approaching.
I think of your experiment with the fruit as how I always fail with gooseberries, I can never seem to get a handle on the flavours to be perfect.
Why am I always overwhelmed by your writing? I think it’s the brevity of words. Each one is chosen and assembled with care. You have a rare, spectacular talent at communicating ten times more than what a sentence might be taken literally to convey. And what you’re communicating on every level is so worth reading. You’re distilling human experiences that we live, have lived, or will surely live if we let ourselves. The part about deferring grief just gutted me. That’s not ignorance. It’s an innate human trait that the less willing never come back to. It impedes their understanding of who they are, where they are, and the life they could be living. Few people, especially women and especially the less well resourced, have the agency to deal with life head on in real time. They are often left to seethe with rage or resentment or loneliness, feeling they have been overlooked and unimportant. As we push more and more lives out of existence to monetize the lands and waters and sky that made long, ultimately enlightened lives possible, you must keep writing. It makes me incredibly happy to hear you went swimming!
Thanks for sharing this--I look forward to your newsletter every week, and I appreciate you sharing all of this! (I hope Toronto looks this beautiful when I visit in the Fall).
Such a beautiful piece of writing.
Thank-you ☀️
Bravo, as always. We take each day as it comes.

Thank-you Zafar. It all takes work, this living through tough stuff. I'm thinking of you...🧡☀️

Early November is not quite so welcoming, as you can imagine!!!
But was I being like the Ancient Mariner, talking the ear off a captive audience?
Highly unlikely! Nobody gets through life unscathed so I’m sure she understands grief
Thank-you!
