Of all the substacks I read, yours is the most real and meaningful. When my brother David fell terribly sick 38 years ago, he was home for one day of his eighteen month treatment. His wonderful doctor at PMH then on Sherbourne St said once to me, “Cancer is not a disease. It’s a country”. You add the dimension “it’s a family”. All of which is true. For all of my visits to Burma, I have never been to Chiang Mai. I shall now go.
A graceful column with Tashi moments threaded throughout, just as memory and travel behaves as you also travel through the other country. The bowls of food - I can almost smell them!
Hey, Naomi! Good to hear your voice. I sent you an email requesting some info. Hope you got it. much love (which spellcheck gremlins changed to ivermectin!!!!!), Nancy
That appears to be the ONLY email address I have for you. Can that be? Possibly. In any case I don’t have your mailing address in T. Could you send it please to nancyharmonjenkins@gmail.com.
Like you I think much more of both my parents since they are dead in the past 2 years. Sometimes I am wondering if this means they are somewhere in the universe with us in our lives. I have never heard of smoked on bagel is it prepared with mustard or other ingredients I would like to try that? Wish the best for you in this difficult period.
I’m always so grateful to be able to read your posts. Valentine’s Day marked 28 years since Haru died from cancer. I find myself thinking about him more than usual this year and like knowing that there is a tradition in Georgia that made it a special day for mourning this year. We still have quite a bit of snow on the ground but the temperature yesterday was high enough to bring my honeybees out of their hives for their first cleansing flights, spring is coming! Safe travels back to Toronto.

Thank-you. So true. And so many of us have traveled in that country…

Dear Nancy. I can't find the email from you asked ng for info. Gremlins? Something inadvertently deleted?
Could you have sent it to my old Yahoo address?
Sorry! Please resend.
🧡🧡

Lovely post. Pack light, nothing you won't need on the journey. But you know that already, beloved woman.

Dear Caroline, sending love and embraces. I'm glad the bees have emerged to cleanse themselves of the fug of winter. ☀️
